WHAT HAPPENS AT RECEPTION?

Please note this may vary from wedding to wedding. You should always discuss this with the venue, MC and DJ. If in doubt consult Forever After in the forum.

1. The guests arrive at the venue and are served pre-dinner snacks and nibblys.
2. Guests are seated by the venue's head usher (if applicable)
3. M.C. or D.J. asks guests to be upstanding to receive the bridal party & announces them.
4. The drinks are then served to the guests and food is served. This may vary if reception menu is buffet style or set menu style.
5. M.C. introduces himself & formally welcomes guests.
6. M.C. proposes Loyal Toast / Toast to Australia, the family or to absent friends.
7. Sometimes a prayer is said in honour of the Bride and Groom.
8. Entree is served.
9. Main course is served.
10. Wine waiters fill up champagne glasses for toasting.
11. M.C. introduces person proposing toast to bride and groom.
12. Groom responds & proposes a toast to the bridesmaids.
13. The best man responds.
14. M.C. introduces person proposing toast to bride's parents.
15. Bride's father responds.
16. M.C. introduces person proposing toast to groom's parents.
17. Groom's father responds.
18. M.C. calls on best man & groomsmen to read faxes & emails.
19. M.C. either proposes toast or calls on nominated person to propose toast to absent friends.
20. Dessert is served.
21. M.C. or D.J. will ask bride & groom to come forward & cut the wedding cake. Cake is then cut & placed in bags by waitresses & given to the Bridesmaids to hand around.
22. Rest of the events of the evening are usually performed by D.J. in this order.
23. D.J. invites bride and groom onto the dance floor for the bridal waltz. Bridal party, parents, family and guests join them.
24. Dancing continues & coffee is served. During the evening the Bridesmaids hand around wedding cake & dancing continues.
25. Bouquet and garter are given away. D.J. organises.
26. Farewell then bride & groom depart. D.J. organises.
27. Dancing continues until reception finishes.
